New Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks record!

On Tuesday, the new Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks record was released. I wrote up a brief review of the record for the station and wanted to share it.

Artist: Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks
Album: Real Emotional Trash
Label: Matador

Remember the scene in the first Back to the Future movie where Marty McFly dresses as a space alien in 1955 to tell his father to get with his mother? Well, a similar thing happened to Steve Malkmus before this record was made except it was the present day and it was a space alien hybrid of Doug Martsch and Neil Young saying “Stephen! Use all the guitar chops you’ve had all along and held back to be a slacker-rocker in the 90’s with Pavement and use it in great excess making songs that should only be 4 minutes long tops into obnoxious attempts at jam-rock masterpieces that clock in at 8-10 minutes!”…All of this being said, this record has something great to offer almost every track, but I picked the ones that actually end at a decent time and don’t overdo it.

Hot Traxxx: 1, 3, 7

Also, there's been some very recent talk about a Pavement reunion (besides the Pitchfork Spiral Stairs interview). Yes, it's true, it has even got the attention of Entertainment Weekly?!
